Preview
The Preview tab for your campaign becomes available when all elements in your campaign have been configured. It provides you with the ability to test the look and rendering of the elements in your campaign, either as a static preview or as a dynamic preview, simulating an opener. You can also send yourself or others an email preview.
How to test your Liveclicker elements in the preview
The following explanations are based on the preview of an image, but the same functionality applies to all Liveclicker elements.
Use the toggle Static preview to switch between a static preview and a simulation as an opener.
All elements in the campaign are listed as tabs, and the ones that are ready have a check displayed behind their name. Not fully configured elements will be disabled.
Note: The element preview does not include personalization such as overlay text for LiveImage, Calendar downloads for LiveCalendar, etc.
Static preview
1. The static preview is displayed by default. Use the drop-down to select a different version of the element for a preview.
2. All alternate versions of the element are listed. Select the one you wish to preview.
Simulate an opener
1. Toggle the option Simulate an opener to preview the message while applying the targeting rules. By default, no rules are applied.
2. A series of targeting options becomes available, allowing you to simulate one of the set targeting rules and test if the right version of the element is displayed. Select one of the available options: Device, Location, Date & Time, Custom or Element status.
Example: In your targeting rules for the image, version2 is displayed when the location of the opener is New York, and the default version is displayed when location is Brussels.
You can now simulate an opener's location and check if the right version of the image is displayed and the targeting rules are correctly applied.
Click Location to use the location as a rule.
Next, select the location by clicking the pin icon and access the map:
On the map, enter your search criteria and click Look Up Location to display a pin on the map:
Click the pin to confirm the location and Save this location:
The selected location is returned to the rule. Next, click Add condition +.
The condition can now be used as a simulation of the opener. Click Refresh preview to check if the rule is properly applied:
In this example, the default version is displayed:
Send test email
You can send a test email to your own email address or someone else's. When rendering the preview in the test email, targeting rules are applied as well as other checks to determine which version of the element is shown in the test email.
When sending an email preview of a simulation, some conditions like email client/operating system will be stripped from the email preview since you cannot simulate email preview with elements where their functionality depends on those conditions - LiveVideo, iOS optimized LivePolls, LiveSlides, LiveReveal, LiveCalendar.
Note: Use the Populate Custom Fields link to define custom values for your custom fields and see how this renders your element in the test email . In the pop-up, fill out values for the custom fields used in your element, and click Use these fields to confirm.
A green bullet is added to the Populate custom fields link to indicate values have been configured. These values should now be visible in the test email:
Once you are happy with the preview and all settings are correct, move to the last step of your campaign creation, where you can retrieve your embed codes.
